Why would two siblings be born with different traits when they have the same parents?
Your genes play a big role in making you who you are. But brothers and sisters don’t look exactly alike because everyone (including parents) actually has two copies of most of their genes. And these copies can be different. Parents pass one of their two copies of each of their genes to their kids.
Will two brothers who have been raised in different environment have the same behavior?
No if the environmental condition is totally different then the behaviour of the brothers will totally different.
Why do siblings look different from one another even though they have the same parents?
Hence the child gets new chromosomes, the genes in which contain a mix of both their father’s and mother’s genes. This is the reason that siblings from the same parents can sometimes look so dissimilar, because the set of genes in one person can be immensely different from the other, despite having the same parents.
Why are the children brought up in the same family different from one another in their personality even though they have had the same experiences?
One component, called shared environment, includes all environmental influences that make children in a family similar to one another. Environmental variance not due to shared environment is called nonshared environment; this portion of environmental variance makes family members different from one another.
What makes children in the same family so different?
Because relatives share family environment as well as heredity, familial resemblance can be due to environmental influences as well as to hereditary influences. In other words, a portion of environmental influence could be shared by relatives, making them similar to one another.
Do brothers have same DNA?
The cells in your body have a copy of your DNA. Most cells are diploid, which means that they have two copies of each chromosome. X and Y chromosome differences mean that brothers and sisters can never have identical genotypes. However, brothers have the same DNA on their Y chromosomes.
Are siblings genetically similar to each other?
Despite the fact that siblings are, on average, 50\% genetically similar, are often raised in the same home by the same parents, attend the same schools and have many other shared experiences, siblings are often only as similar to each other as they are to children who are growing up across town or even across the country.
Do adoptive “siblings” correlate with environmental factors?
For most psychological characteristics, correlations for adoptive “siblings” hover near zero, which implies that the relevant environmental influences are not shared by children in the same family.
Are children raised by their parents?
We tend, in casual observation, to believe that what we see is the way things are: Children are raised by their parents; so parents must be the cause of their children’s behavior. But there are alternative explanations that we don’t see, such as genetic influences.
Why do sibling differences increase over time?
In this way, even small differences between siblings can become substantial differences over time. But parents may also play a role. For instance, when parents notice differences between their children, children may pick up on parents’ perceptions and beliefs about those differences. This, in turn, can increase sibling differences.
