Why is it important to address your fears?
Fear helps protect us. It makes us alert to danger and prepares us to deal with it. Feeling afraid is very natural — and helpful — in some situations. Fear can be like a warning, a signal that cautions us to be careful.

If we avoid everything that makes us anxious it can hold us back and lead to more problems. Avoiding things we fear makes our fears get bigger in our mind. Facing our fears can help make us stronger.
When should you face your fears?
The process of facing fears is called EXPOSURE. Exposure involves gradually and repeatedly going into feared situations until you feel less anxious. Exposure is not dangerous and will not make the fear worse. And after a while, your anxiety will naturally lessen.
Does facing your fears help anxiety?
When you completely avoid your fears, you teach your amygdala (the fear center in your brain) that you can’t handle them. On the contrary, gradually facing your fears, in small doses that don’t overwhelm you, may help decrease anxiety “habituating” your amygdala, or letting your brain become accustomed to the fear.

Educate yourself about the facts and the risks you actually face by doing the things that scare you. Create an Action Plan The key to facing your fears is to take one small step at a time. Going too fast or doing something too scary before you are ready can backfire.
Are You Afraid of things?
Yes, I am afraid of things, although I like to think I’m fearless at times. I am imperfect like everyone else. Honestly, to be afraid of something is to be human, and it’s part of what molds our character. Fear also protects us when our instincts start to shout alarms about certain situations. So, we can’t knock fear altogether now, can we?
