Gameplay and graphics are mutually supportive and inextricably intertwined. The graphics enrich the gameplay and the gameplay lets the graphics draw you into the game. The environments and vehicles are rendered so realistically it can be hard to believe you’re playing a game rather than watching a movie.
Why do people like realistic video games?
It’s more visually appealing and can allow developers more time to focus on making a good game. While I also love platformers for their mechanics it’s not usually the initial draw in. When choosing to buy a game, art style is a huge factor for me.

In fact, I consider graphics to be an important consideration when buying a game. It’s such a pleasure to the eyes when you buy a good-looking game. Good looking graphics is part and parcel of a wonderful gaming experience. Isn’t it the same with real life too? People judge your looks. People judge how you present yourself to the world.
How do video games make you feel alive?
They simply employ realistic graphics that stimulate the senses and allow the brain of the player to more readily pretend that there is a real, living world behind the screen (even though there isn’t, usually).
Is Minecraft’s graphics really that bad?
Minecraft is a nice experiment, but most commercially successful games have above average graphics. Ex. The Last of Us, Battlefield, Batman Arkham games, etc. Its the first thing you see and can be a selling point to a majority of kids. Game developers know this and its why new consoles are upgraded to accommodate bigger and better graphics.
