How can students have a positive impact on the school community?
Instruct students to make lists of food items they love and encourage them to bring them in to class. Set up a donation box or bin for collection. Keep it fun by offering a reward for the student or group of students that bring in the most food.
What would you change about the school system if you were in?
Here is a far from complete list of things I would change about the school system if I were in charge. The first thing I would change is some elements of the dress code. According to KosherCasual.com, “A dress code promotes a more serious school atmosphere which emphasizes academics and promotes good behavior.”

“If I could change something about our schools, it would be to increase the time spent on teaching social and emotional skills to children and the level of trauma-informed care in our classrooms. Students are coming to school lacking the ability to make decisions, cope with disappointment, and interact with others in a meaningful way.
Should schools ease up on assigning homework?
Having to do homework on top of all of that can (and definitely does) lead to stress, which can lead to so many other negative things, such as falling behind in school. So maybe schools should ease up on assigning homework, and learn something from Mark Trifilio.

It should be given to improve/ enhance learning vs. Be a grade booster @HuffPostTeen the early mornings definitely, it’s so hard to concentrate when you’re tired @HuffPostTeen the learning hierarchy: “core” classes and sports first, visual and performing arts last.
