What other poster have gotten wrong is the aspect that Soldiers know going in that it is dangerous and therefore shouldn’t be called heros. The reason why Americans call them heros is exactly for that reason. It is dangerous and because they are doing it voluntarily, other people do not have to.

Yes soldiers are put in dangerous situations, but they enlisted knowing inherent dangers of the job. I respect the fact they are fighting for so-called “freedom”, but I won’t glorify all soldiers as heroes. Thank you for your reply. For my understanding being a soldier is a job.
