What is the difference between faith and works?
In summary, both faith and works are important in salvation. However, believers are justified, or declared righteous before God, solely by faith. Christians are saved by God’s grace through faith alone. Works, on the other hand, are the evidence of genuine salvation.
Can you get to heaven by works alone?
No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.” We can’t get to heaven by works, because God doesn’t pick favorites.

Can’t be saved by works alone?

Can Faith save you if there are no works?

You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.

Yet, as we can see in James 2, an empty profession of faith—one that does not result in a life of obedience to Christ—is in reality a dead faith that cannot save. The other error in regards to works and faith is to attempt to make works part of what justifies us before God.
