What is Moorum?
Moorum( or murum) is the word derived from the Tamil language, which means powdered rock. Moorum. Moorum is also a type of soil, mostly used for construction purposes. Generally, it is deep brown or red in color. Moorum is used in plinth filling, road pavements, backfilling in trenches, footing pits, etc.
What is the cement density?
1.44 g/cm³
Cement/Density
How dense is clay soil?
Clay and sand + silt particles have densities of ~ 2.86 and ~ 2.65 Mg m− 3, respectively. Soil particle density can be accurately predicted from clay and SOM contents.
What is the density of red clay?
1.31 g/cm3
Basic properties of red clay The natural moisture content and dry density of the red clay was 35.70\% and 1.31 g/cm3 respectively.
What type of rock is Moorum?
Murrum soil is a one form of lateritic soil (Clayey material) which is used in road surface in Africa region. It is not a rock. It is generally used in all over the world but major used in Africa region.
Is Moorum a code?
GRAIN SIZE (mm) Unsoaked and Soaked CBR tests have been conducted in the Laboratory as per I. S. Code 2720, Part- IV, 1963, for different series of moorum-sand-fiber composite.
Why density of cement is 1440?
1440 is the density of cement . Density is defined as the ratio of mass per unit volume . So the density of concrete is determined as in 1cubic meter volume what’s the weight of cement would retained on it .. it’s unit is kg pere cubic meter or gram per cubic cm.
What is the density of soil?
Typical values of the dry or bulk density of most soil vary within the range of 1.1–1.6 g/cm3. An average value would be 1.3 g/cm3 for loamy soil.
What is the density of compacted clay?
1.4 g/cm3
Coppin and Richards (1990) agree that the critical dry density depends on the soil texture and suggest values of about 87 lb/ft3 (1.4 g/cm3) for clay soils and 106 lb/ft3 (1.7 g/cm3) for sandy soils.
Which is more dense clay or sand?
Sandy soils have relatively high bulk density since total pore space in sands is less than that of silt or clay soils. Finer-textured soils, such as silt and clay loams, that have good structure have higher pore space and lower bulk density compared to sandy soils.
What is the maximum dry density of soil mix of Moorum?
The maximum dry density of mix of soil:moorum: RBI Grade 81 for proportion of 100:0:0. 88:10:2, 78:20:2 was found out and the results are given in the table 5. The results shows that the MDD for mix of soil: moorum: RBI Grade 81 for proportion 88:10:2 is 1.61 g/cm3and OMC is 24.76\%.
Does Moorum affect the MDD and OMC of soil?
4.3 Effect of Moorum and RBI Grade 81 on MDD and OMC of soil The maximum dry density of mix of soil:moorum: RBI Grade 81 for proportion of 100:0:0. 88:10:2, 78:20:2 was found out and the results are given in the table 5.
What is the meaning of Moorum?
Definition of moorum. Its soil which particularly use of road pavement. Its reddish soil they are good material for building huts and paths as the can be compacted easily to form have surfaces. they are generally impervious.
How effective is Moorum as a sub base material over expansive soil?
In the present work effectiveness of moorum proposed as sub base material over expansive soil for control of swell has been evaluated. Expansive soil is compacted in CBR mould up to different heights (0.5H, 0.6H, 0.67H, 0.75H and 0.8H) at a dry density of 1.55 g/cc and at a moisture content of 23.2\%.
