What if baby is not gaining enough weight?
For most, growth after birth is fast and easy. But some babies do not gain weight as quickly as expected, even though they may have a healthy appetite. We get concerned about lack of weight gain because it can lead to problems like developmental delays, behavioral concerns and difficulty fighting infections.
How can I get my underweight baby to gain weight?
If your child is underweight, start by ensuring that most meals and snacks are nutrient-rich. Good sources of protein for weight gain include eggs, peanut butter and other nut butters, bean soups, hummus and reduced-fat or full-fat milk, yogurt and cheese.
How do I know if my baby is gaining enough weight?
