What happens if I take my braces off early?
Maybe you have a special event coming up, a wedding or a dance, and you were hoping for a reprieve, but bone takes time to heal. In other words, if your braces come off too early then your teeth could go back to how they were.
Can I just take off my braces?
Braces should only be removed by a qualified orthodontist. They have the proper tools to safely remove the brackets and wires from your teeth. You may injure yourself if you try to remove your braces at home, as many of the pieces are quite sharp.
What are the red dots on braces?
Color dots: These let us know which bracket goes on which tooth. These dots will brush away after the first couple times you brush your teeth. Archwires: The wires are what are going through each bracket. As treatment progresses, we will change the wires and moving to stronger wires to help the teeth align.
Is it worth it to remove braces early?
Also when removing braces off to early it may cause further trouble with your bite not being in the right position and all the teeth alignment might be off causing you to have jaw problems. It is worth to keep them on as most treatment only take 2-4 years depending on the person teeth in order to get the perfect smile for the rest of your life.
Why do you need retainers after braces come off?
Once the braces are off your gum tissues are soft from moving the teeth into the right position and it takes a good year to strenghten them. That is why retainers are very important to stablize your teeth while the gums strenghten and also prevent your teeth moving back to where they were.
Will my teeth move back without retainers?
Answer: your teeth will move back without retainers. It is not recommended to take off your braces before treatment is completed. There are times when you have to take them off before treatment is completed.
