What does it mean when we say that art involved experience?
In “Art as Experience,” John Dewey explains that art is a dynamic human experience that involves both the artist and the audience. When the audience encounters art, they are connecting with the artist’s experiences and transforming the meaning of the art with their own.
Does art require experience?
Art requires long periods of activity and reflection, and comes only to those absorbed in observing experience. An artist’s work requires reflection on past experience and a sifting of emotions and meanings from that prior experience.
