Should I switch majors if I failed a class?
It’s obviously not good to fail a class, but nothing to change your major over. However (and I know from personal experience), you should deeply explore why you are doing poorly in this class.
Do civil engineers use a lot of calculus?
Most civil engineering programs require calculus 1 and calculus 2, while some also require students take calculus 3. Calculus 3, which may be required in a civil engineering program, deals with functions in two and three dimensions, and includes topics like surface and volume integrals, and partial derivatives.
Should I take Calculus II again in college?
I would recommend taking Calculus II again in college. It’s going to be much more detailed than your high school class is, and give you a much smoother transition into differential equations. I’d also recommend taking Calculus III and Linear Algebra before Differential Equations.
How important is calc 2 for an engineer?
Just that Calc 2 is sooo important for engineers in those terms. You use it a lot in Differential Equations too, which has so, so many engineering applications. I also recommend taking Calc 3 and Linear Algebra at the same time, and before Diff EQ. The knowledge you gain in those classes, especially line
Is it a mistake to get an engineering degree?
If you’re not, jumping into that at this time could be a mistake. But if you can’t handle and really don’t want to get this engineering degree, you don’t want to throw good money after bad by continuing with it.
Is a physics degree worth it for civil engineering?
You’ve almost certainly done physics. That’ll count for some sort of ‘physical science’ requirement. Maybe you’ll need another semester or two to finish and, yeah, that costs money, but hopefully a degree with good grades in something you like will be worth more in the long run than a civil engineering degree with lousy grades.
