During the months of September and October, the band averages around 18 hours of practice in one week. Every week Monday and Wednesday from 5-9 the band practices, often in the teachers parking lot. Then, most Saturdays the band practices from 9-5; if they have a competition, then it is even longer of a day.
How long do marching bands practice for?
Practice sessions can range from a couple of hours to several hours long depending on the intensity of the program. In college, it isn’t unusual to have daily evening rehearsals during the week and rehearsal on gameday. Some college marching bands such as the Texas A&M Marching Band rehearse up to 40 hours a week.
