In addition to making communication possible, reading and writing are also vital today than in the past because they allow us to process information from a myriad of sources, such as books, newspapers, magazines, letters, journals, instructional guides, menus, bus schedules and of course, the Internet.
Why is it important to be able to read and write?
Reading and writing are both important; you can’t have one without the other. Reading and writing in general only helps absorb information, and enhance leisure or school related writing tasks. It has also made life itself so much easier because reading and writing are so beneficial for school and for life.
Why is writing more important than reading?
Writing the character yourself is much more demanding and makes it more likely that you remember the character later. In other words, writing will enhance your reading because you’re much less likely to forget the character, but reading will not necessarily help you remember how to write the character.

When you read, you exercise your comprehension abilities and your analytical abilities. It fires up your imagination and stimulates the memory centers of your mind. It helps recall information as well as stabilize your emotions. The importance of a reading habit is that it strengthens mental muscles.

More writing is an obvious one, since exposes us to other styles, other voices, other forms and genres of writing. Importantly, it exposes us to writing that’s better than our own and helps us to improve.

The more you read and write, the more you broaden your vocabulary and are able to articulate concepts accurately and more effectively to others. Increasing your ability to communicate also helps make you a better worker or student.
