Is it a sin to leave food?
Nit supposed to engage in gluttony, but that is hardly considering leaving food uneaten to be sinful. No. Jesus encourages us to leave food for the poor and the non-Jewish Christians. Mark chp 7 tells us to let the non-Jewish Christians eat the crumbs which fall on the ground under the table.

What does God say about food?
“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Nothing could be clearer. God does not want us to eat meat.

Fighting the sin of gluttony with a diet is like trying to chop down a tree with a garden hose. The hose has a purpose and is good for some things, but definitely not felling a tree. For that you need an axe. Likewise, to kill sin you need repentance, not meal plans.
