How long do fall internships last?
Internships are most commonly semester-length — about two to three months. This period of internship is easy to arrange since it won’t conflict with a college student’s schedule. Keep in mind that semester internships are typically part-time as students still have classes to attend.
How long do co ops last?
three to 12 months
Co-ops are typically paid positions and last anywhere from three to 12 months. Universities with required co-op programs usually expect students to complete at least two – sometimes three – such practical learning experiences, experts say.
How should my internship or co-op start and end?
Your internship or co-op should begin and end with the start and end dates for each semester, which can be found here. Some faculty may be more flexible on start and end dates. Therefore, reach out to them as soon as you know you’ll have different start and end dates to get their permission.

Are Engineering Co-ops full time or part time?
Usually full-time. Co-op positions have traditionally been paid by employers. Co-op is open to all majors but internships are more common for most students. At graduation, 7\% of our graduates reported having done co-op in college. Engineering majors have comprised 83\% to 95\% of students enrolled.
