The 27 nakshatras (constellations) of Vedic Astrology occupy the 12 signs spanning 360 degrees in the heavens. The navamsa is the 9th division of a sign. So there is 12 x 9 = 108 navamsa in a chart. Each nakshatra spans 13.33 degrees and each pada 3.33 degrees.

Navamsa D9 chart is based on 9th Division of a 30° degree Sign. Harmonic 9th chart is based on principles of resonance. 360° degree circle is divided by the harmonic number 9. Navamsa D9 and Harmonic 9th are using different calculation formula, but they both will give you the same result.
