How do you explain negative results?
Negative results are results that do not support the hypothesis and nullify the aim of the research. Negative results or null results as they are sometimes called, are also important and they contribute to our knowledge of the topic as much as positive results do.
Do you agree that literature review must be presented in the introduction with significant depth?
Your literature review, like any other document, should contain an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. Your introduction should clearly explain the overall research topic and the depth of the information to be presented; it often also explains the types of sources that will be used.
Why do you need to re examine review the literature related to your study?
Why do a literature review? Reviewing the literature lets you see what came before, and what did and didn’t work for other researchers. To demonstrate your understanding, and your ability to critically evaluate research in the field. To provide evidence that may be used to support your own findings.
How do you know if literature is relevant?
Things to Look for in Your Results List
- What is it about? The title will be your first immediate clue.
- What is the subject area focus? Knowing the discipline of an article is an important clue in determining relevance.
- Are you looking for recent information?
- Is it a book or an article?
- Is it scholarly?
How do you conduct an effective and valid literature search?
Literature Search: Process Flow
- Develop a research question in a specific subject area.
- Make a list of relevant databases and texts you will search.
- Make a list of relevant keywords and phrases.
- Start searching and make notes from each database to keep track of your search.
Do you explain results in results section?
The results section of the research paper is where you report the findings of your study based upon the information gathered as a result of the methodology [or methodologies] you applied. The results section should simply state the findings, without bias or interpretation, and arranged in a logical sequence.
What is the difference between literature review and research report?
Review vs Research Paper The difference between a Review paper and Research Paper is that a Review paper is a secondary source and research on an already existing report whereas a Research paper is a primary source and gives an original report on a topic done by an individual.
While ‘conceptual framework’ means a researcher’s own perceptions about the scope and structure of a problem, the literature review provides others’ ideas and work in areas close to that under study.
How do you identify a reliable and valid literature?
A book author must cite studies or other sources to be considered valid and reliable….Determine the reliability and validity of articles by following a process very similar to evaluating books:
- Look at the author’s credentials.
- Review the article’s contents.
- Examine the evidence.
- Determine bias.
How do you introduce the results of a literature review?
Introductory context for understanding the results by restating the research problem underpinning your study. This is useful in re-orientating the reader’s focus back to the research problem after reading the literature review and your explanation of the methods of data gathering and analysis.
Should I point out the limitations of the existing research?
Because you have fewer articles to choose from, you may end up citing lower-quality sources. If this is the case then it is OK to point out limitations in the existing research and use these as justification for further work.
What is the difference between results and findings in research paper?
When formulating the results section, it’s important to remember that the results of a study do not prove anything. Findings can only confirm or reject the hypothesis underpinning your study.
Should a literature review have a large number of references?
If you think that a literature review needs to contain as large number of references, then this is a problem. But it’s not about the number of references, it’s about reflecting the state of the field as it is. If there aren’t many papers to write about, this in itself is a worthwhile observation about the research in your field.
