How do you make soap white?
There are two basic ways to make your soap whiter:
- Add some Titanium Dioxide (TD). If you’re using Water-based Titanium Dioxide, you add it to your lye-water mixture.

Why does liquid soap turn white?
This is completely normal. All of our organic liquid soap products will return to their normal clear amber color as they warm back to room temperatures. Cold temps and freezing may also cause some white soap to precipitate to the bottom of the bottle. This does not harm the function of the product.
Can you add food coloring to liquid hand soap?
While this is a safe option, it is not recommended. The color will not hold as well and will fade quickly. When using more than one color these dyes tend to bleed into each other.
Can you use mica powder in soap?
Micas work great in melt and pour soap, with no possibility of morphing. If you are using a clear, transparent or translucent base, we recommend about 1/2 a teaspoon per pound to achieve a nice, strong pearl effect. Simply add the powder into your melted melt and pour soap base.
How do you make white colored soap naturally?
Natural White Soap Color If you’d like a bright white soap, use white or clear soaping oils like coconut oil and less yellow oils. Another way to keep your bars as light as possible is to make soap at low temperatures — between room temperature and 100F.
Can you put too much mica in soap?
Color bleed/migration: Mica + Mineral Pigment will not bleed (between layers or swirls) in soap, though can bleed onto a washcloth or color lather if too much is used.
Why is my clear soap cloudy?
My block of Clear MP Soap Base looks cloudy. Is this normal or did I get a bad batch? This is normal due to the size and thickness of the block. Once you slice off some soap, you will see the true color and clarity.
Why does my liquid soap change color?
Over time, certain ingredients in the fragrance oil may begin to oxidize. While this is just a natural reaction some ingredients, like vanillin, have with the air, this could lead to a change in the color of your homemade soaps.
What can you use to dye soap?
Any water-based liquid dye can be used to color your soap. You can also use micas, oxides, clays, or natural colorants. These should be diluted in a small amount of rubbing alcohol first to avoid clumping in the soap.
How can I make my homemade soap lighter in color?
The color of the soap batter can greatly affect the color of your soap. To ensure your colors are true and bright, it helps to use lighter-colored oils like coconut oil, palm oil and sweet almond oil. You can also lighten your batch with titanium dioxide.
Is there a recipe to make white soap?
Because of these variances in colour from one brand/batch of oil to another, there isn’t any particular recipe that will produce a white soap. You pretty much have to source out the whitest/clearest oils you can find and add a little titanium dioxide to help the soap appear whiter.
How do you mix pigments for soap?
Mix 1 teaspoon of pigment with 1 tablespoon (15 mL) of lightweight oil for cold process soap. Pour 1 tablespoon (15 mL) of a lightweight oil into a small dish, then add 1 teaspoon of your desired powdered pigment. Stir the two together until the color is consistent and no lumps remain. Skip this step if you are making melt and pour soap.
How do you dye soap with dye?
Stir the dye into the soap, then add more if desired. Use a stainless steel spoon or a rubber spatula to do this. You can mix the dye thoroughly into the soap, or part-way to create a marbled effect. If the soap is not dark enough, add another 1 to 2 drops of dye, and stir again.
