How did you feel during the meditation?
Meditation does not involve the mind only, but also the body (8). You may feel random aches, scratchy, or tingly at the start of the session. The body feels the mind’s frustrations, and you may want to stand up or even give up. At times you may become tired, with your body feeling heavy, sleepy, and sluggish.
Why does meditation make you feel good?
Meditation can increase your levels of feel-good chemicals, like endorphins and serotonin. Studies also indicate it may increase your capacity for happiness and reduce your propensity towards negativity.
What happens while meditating?
It can strengthen areas of your brain responsible for memory, learning, attention and self-awareness. Over time, mindfulness meditation can increase cognition, memory and attention. It can also decrease emotional reactivity, stress, anxiety and depression.
Why is meditation good for you?
Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that can benefit both your emotional well-being and your overall health. And these benefits don’t end when your meditation session ends. Meditation can help carry you more calmly through your day and may help you manage symptoms of certain medical conditions.
What does meditation feel like to you?
The first time I meditate, my “before and after” were basically being stressed and restless and then, afterwards, feeling inner calm and a sense of grounding and stability. Maybe your experiences differ. After all, meditation is a unique and personal experience.
What happens when you enter into deep meditation?
When you enter into deep meditation, you will have no consciousness of your body or surroundings, you will have equanimity of mind. You will not hear any sound. There will be stoppage of upgoing and down-going sensations. The consciousness of egoism will also gradually vanish. You will experience inexplicable joy and indescribable happiness.
What happens if you don’t experience any symptoms of meditation failure?
This is usually followed by a deep gulp of air — after which, everything will quickly even out and you can continue breathing normally. So even if you didn’t experience any of these symptoms, it didn’t mean your meditation was ineffective. Every meditator has experiences that feel more surface from time-to-time.
Why do I get Lost in thought when meditating?
You got lost in thought. Going deep means your mind is going from surface awareness to subtle awareness, and ultimately to no awareness. As your mind travels through the various degrees of awareness, you’ll be thinking various thoughts, many of which won’t have anything to do with meditation.
