Does Columbia contact you for an interview?
Because the actual assignment of interviews is not conducted by Columbia Undergraduate Admissions, we respectfully ask that you do not call or write to inquire about receiving an interview. You will be contacted directly if an interview is available to you.
Does getting an interview at Columbia mean anything?
Not having an interview indicates that you are not seriously interested in the school. Sorry, but the offer of an interview for Columbia is not an indication of anything respecting your possible admission. That interview invitation is not based upon your strength as an applicant.

Most college interviewers aren’t trying to put you on the spot, though. Rather, they use interviews as a way to get to know you further, beyond the written component of your application. Rather than drill you with questions, they often want to engage you in conversation about your interests and passions.

Columbia does not require interviews. The school receives more than 40,000 applications each year and simply does not have enough volunteers available to interview everyone who applies. Interviews that are conducted are by invitation. If you do not receive an invitation to be interviewed, don’t worry.
