Do we have control over our desires?
Yes a human is capable of controlling their own desires. A desire is something that you put value on in your life. What might be a desire to you, may be of no interest to me.
How can I control my own desires?
Here are all the different ways you can use to control your desires:
- Change your environment to prevent relapse.
- Accept the temptations, don’t resist them, for they’d only rebound to come back stronger.
- Consciously redirect your attention to something else.
- Strip the desire off of its attraction by cognitive reframing.
Can we control what we like?
The results of the study found that those who thought negative thoughts reported feeling less in love and attached to their partner. But the study actually found that those same people could begin to control their feelings over time by thinking negative or positive thoughts.
Should we be responsible for our actions?
Accepting responsibility is crucial for success because it helps you work through your mistakes without being weighed down by regret, guilt, or shame. It also builds strength of character as a person becomes better at admitting they are not perfect and doing what needs to be done to make up for their mistakes.
Why do we desire control?
Human beings have a deep-seated desire for certainty and control. That is, the more in control we feel, the more efficacious we feel about achieving the outcomes we desire, and this sense of competence boosts well-being. Control also feels good because it makes us believe that we aren’t under someone else’s control.

Are We really in control of our desires?

We are who we are as a function of how go about being ourselves. We structure our lives in ways that get the world to comport with us being ourselves.

In other words, managing how you feel and how you think about control is the first part of gaining the control you might desire. Which is really just control of your own mind and feelings or taking control of your own life. Evolutionarily we want to control our environment in order to survive.
Are our desires different from our thoughts?
The truth is, desires are different. As Dorothy indicated, we do not have to execute our desires immediately as they pass through our consciousness. We have the option to step back, which is to be the observer of our thoughts.
