Can I ask a professor for a letter of recommendation twice?
Asking twice is not “frequent requests”–you’re fretting over this unnecessarily. If your professors are diligent/experienced they will probably keep copies of their letters for you and they can generate a new one relatively efficiently.
How many recommendation letter is enough?
Most selective colleges and universities require one to three recommendation letters with your application, usually from your guidance counselor and at least one teacher. Recommendation letters are typically submitted electronically through the school-specific supplements on The Common Application.
How many letters of recommendation do I need for MIT?
At MIT, we require all applicants to send in two letters of recommendation — one from a math or science teacher (“Evaluation A”) and one from a humanities teacher (“Evaluation B”).
Can I ask another teacher to write a letter of recommendation?
Instead, ask another teacher. Teacher recommendations should only be written by the teacher and by no one else. If you attend school outside the United States, and have teachers who are not English fluent, this is okay — you can still have them write you a recommendation. They can write in their native language; the letter can then be translated.
Can recommenders submit documents other than the MIT application portal?
Our preference is for recommenders to use our application portal to submit documents. However, they do have the option to submit their additional documents via Naviance, SCOIR, or other methods. Applications will not be disadvantaged if recommenders submit their recommendations through a third-party service other than the MIT application portal.
Should I recommend David for admission to MIT?
It is a great pleasure for me to recommend David for admission to MIT. He is one of the most extraordinary students I have encountered in 20 years of teaching. I taught David A.P. Calculus last year as a tenth grader, and he was one of the very top students in an extremely able group of mostly seniors.
