Are you good at math if you are good at chess?
Not at all. There are very clever mathematicians who never saw a chessboard, as well as first class chess players who never studied a theorem, the skills are different. To win at chess, one has to be agonistically determined, that is not required from mathematicians.

There is a also a high correlation of musicians and chess as well though not at such a high level. But just because you are good at math does not make you good at chess (or visa versa) I suck at math BIGTIME, I also failed my math exams (still passed through though).

Why do people who are into chess tend to be logical?
People who are into Chess are very logical, very logical (10\% Maths now) in the sense they will look for cause, effect and consequences at almost everything. If you play Chess regularly you may even apply “cause, effect and consequences” in your life too. Because you are so into it that only logic makes sense to you.
What does it mean to be a good chess player?
To be a good chess player means to have a good working memory, spatial memory, focus, attention, having the ability to sustain spatial calculations in your mind for prolonged periods of time.
