Although the median household income in the US is $58,000, according to the 2016 census, only 19 percent of artists make over $50,000 a year. Of the 29 percent of respondents who had had gallery representation, the experience did not appear to necessarily help much with financial success.
Why you should become an artist?
We make art because we have to! Art feeds my own soul, give control to my life, helps me grow and i enjoy sharing this gift with others and helping them grow as well. Art is a world changer. It represents who we truly are a humans, as its a part of our spirit.

Art can be powerfully therapeutic. It lets us communicate and process things we normally cannot give voice to in our everyday life. Art therapists rely on art to help people suffering from physical and mental trauma to not only work towards recovery but also work on something that brings them pride.

Successful artists are dedicated to their creative efforts. The are consistently and constantly in the studio producing. Selling art is a numbers game. In order to generate steady sales, you need to have your work in front of a large number of potential buyers in a variety of venues (more on this below).
Do you think talent makes you a good artist?
Having bucketfuls of ‘talent’ is no guarantee that you’ll be a good artist because it takes more than ability to be creative. The advantage of believing (or having others believe) that you ‘have talent’ when you start out is that artistic things come easily to you initially.
