Why should we not question God?
It’s not a sin to question God — search the scriptures if you doubt. He settles our doubts by giving us the belief that His ways are not always our ways. The good and the bad in this life can lead us to a deeper faith and trust in God — a blessing for all who will believe.
Can you have faith and doubt?
In the same way that faith and reason are not incompatible, doubt is not a threat to faith. It is important to balance certainty and open-mindedness, Eagleton said—to allow faith and doubt to coexist. “The world is divided between those who believe too little and those who believe too much,” he said.
Is questioning religion a sin?
Questioning God is not Sin. The faculty of reasoning is unique to Humans and God expects us to use these unique faculties.
Is questioning God blasphemy?
Merely questioning God does not show the kind of disrespect that would qualify as blasphemy. However, asking why that God damn tornado destroyed your house and not your neighbor’s house could qualify as blasphemy. Either way, blasphemy is man’s law, so it’s only blasphemy if another person finds out.
Why are we so prone to doubting God?
Instead of exercising bold faith, we come to the Lord “hoping” He will hear us and answer our requests, but we’re just not sure He will. With this kind of thinking, we cannot expect to receive anything from Him. One reason we are so prone to doubt is that we fail to see God at work in our circumstances. We asked, and nothing happened.
Why don’t we ask God more questions?
Fear keeps us from asking questions. Fear says that asking questions is dangerous. Fear tells us that the character of God will not be able to withstand our questions. And if God falls, our entire being falls. But here’s the good news: No question (or level of doubt) could ever cause God to crumble. God is really great at being God.
What does the Bible say about doubts?
A working definition of doubt is “to lack confidence, to consider unlikely.” The very first expression of doubt in the Bible is in Genesis 3, when Satan tempted Eve. God had given a clear command regarding the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and had specified the consequence of disobedience.
How can I overcome doubts about my faith?
To overcome doubts, spend time in the Word to learn God’s principles and ways. Then you’ll begin to grasp what He wants to achieve in your life and how He goes about it. Examine your past from a biblical perspective—faith will grow as you see the unexpected ways He answered your prayers.
