What is the use of choke in two wheeler?
A choke valve/cable is designed to restrict the flow of air in the carburettor of an engine. This helps enrich the fuel-air mixture, improving the ability to start an engine in low temperature conditions.
What happens when you use choke?
The choke cuts off air supply to the carburettor, and thereby delivers a very rich fuel-air mixture to the engine. This is useful for cold starts. Most modern bikes don’t need chokes except in very cold weather.
Can I ride my bike with the choke on?
But if you do this too often, it will cause your bike to run richer (using more gas), and may cause damage to the motorcycle. There is no reason to stress out about this minor problem because this happens to everyone, even the most experienced riders who have accidentally ridden with the Choke on.
Why choke is used in Activa?
The choke is normally used when the engine is failed to crank after couple of tries, the failure could be caused by ‘n’ number of reasons. In a nutshell the choke comes handy when the engine gives you starting trouble, especially when it is at a cold state.
How does an ATV choke work?
An ATV choke works by blocking some of the air from entering the carburetor and mixing with the fuel. When the choke is on, the air/fuel mixture entering the engine is a lot richer (more fuel than normal) which helps start and keep an engine running if it’s cold.
Is it bad to leave choke on?
Leaving the choke on for too long will cause unnecessary engine wear and waste fuel. This is also bad for the environment. The choke is mainly used during winter to help with starting. The engine needs its fuel to be vaporised in order to burn it.
Is it bad to drive with choke on?
It will not damage the engine at all. All that will happen is that it will run richer, thus using more fuel. If you did it for thousands of miles you’d probably end up with more deposits in the engine/exhaust, but even that is easy to sort.

What happens when you close the choke on a motorcycle?
When you close the “choke” you reduce the volume of combustion air entering the cylinder, this changes the air/fuel ratio to a very rich mixture. More fuel in the air fuel mixture than normal helps the bike to achieve ignition of the air fuel mixture and start. Let’s review the combustion KABOOM equation.
How does a choke work on a snowblower?
When you set the choke to the on position, the choke valve will close, blocking a lot of air from entering and mixing with the fuel. The fuel/air mixture will be very rich (contain a lot of fuel) which helps get a cold engine started and idling.
Why do we apply a choke on a diesel engine?
And for this we require more amount of fuel and therefore by applying the choke we restrict the air and compensate even that volume with the pure fuel. Of course there is always minimum amount of air (oxygen) available in the cylinder to burn the extra rich fuel mixture.
