Believe it or not but we all have our own individual style of laughter. Like fingerprints, our laughs reflect our personality and express our moods. We also have different laughs depending on how we feel at any given time. This is why your laughter changes when you’re happy, hyper or super-excited about something.
Why does my laugh change with different people?
When it seems like our laugh has changed, it’s usually when we change to a different vocal tone depending on our mood. If we’re having a bad day, our tone reflects the grumpiness and our laughs can be dim and mellow — which is often why some people fake their laughs too, a different type of our laugh.

The stimulus needs to have a reaction first and then the laughing would occur. People like to mask their feelings due to not wanting others to really know how they feel- so people may laugh in times of nervousness because they are trying to balance their anxious feelings.

With this said- there doesn’t have to be a traumatic event in your life to have nervous laughter.
