Can Sauron return without the Ring?
ANSWER: J.R.R. Tolkien all but completely ruled out the possibility that Sauron might return as a Dark Lord to trouble Middle-earth. Sauron had placed most of his “native strength” in the Ring, and when the Ring was destroyed Sauron was reduced to an extremely weak spirit incapable of taking physical shape again.
What would happen if Sauron got his Ring back?
If Sauron had the ring, there wouldn’t be enough strength to fight back. Only because he didn’t have the ring, men were able to fight back. The free peoples were scattered and their populations dwindled in the third age, unlike the second. The strength in the second age could not be recreated in the third.
Can Sauron rise again?
No. After the destruction of the ring and his body yet again destroyed his spirit is render impotent. He will always be there, but never again to take a physical form.
How long did it take for Sauron to return?
I’ve been wondering if there is some explanation in the books (Unfinished Tales, HoME) as to why Sauron needs so much time in order to recover his strength after Isildur cut the One Ring from his hand. There are over 3000 years passing between the end of the Second Age and the War of the Ring.
How did Sauron regain power?
The Ring anchored him to the physical Arda, so for as long as it existed, he would still come back. When the Ring was unmade, the condensed native power in the Ring was dispersed. All the power in it- the majority of Sauron’s power- that was in rapport with him even when he didn’t bear it was lost forever.
Is the necromancer the same as Sauron?
The Necromancer and Sauron were always the same character, even though they are not overly connected in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. In The Hobbit, Gandalf refers to a mysterious villain called the Necromancer, but he is actually Sauron from The Lord of the Rings.
