Can my child go to school in a different city?
An Interdistrict Transfer is an agreement that allows students to attend a school in a district other than the one in which they reside. Interdistrict transfers must be approved by both the student’s current district of residence and the school district of desired attendance.
How do schools allocate places?
Schools make decisions about who is offered a place based on their admissions criteria, which are drawn up by the Board of Governors and published on the school’s website. Criteria vary from school to school but they must be fair, clear and based on facts.
Can you change secondary schools?
You should apply by 31 October 2021. If you have moved to the area or wish to change secondary schools (your child was born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010) you can apply to change schools ‘in-year’ and be offered a place to start as quickly as possible. Changing schools can be very disruptive for children.
You can apply for schools outside your own local authority if you want to, but you still use your own local authority’s form. The information on your form is then passed to the schools to decide whether they can offer your child a place based on their oversubscription criteria.
Can I be enrolled in two schools at once?
I doubt that you can be enrolled in two schools. A different option, that you may not have considered, is 1of you homeschooling when your LOs are with parent 1, and going to school with parent 2. This would be known as flexi-schooling.
How do I change the school district my child will attend?
The two parents need to first decide if they can work out this matter between them without going further. If they cannot, as it appears that it may not, then either party can petition the court to modify the custody arrangement to determine who has the primary physical residence to establish which school district she will be attending.

A student lives in one school district but goes to school in another school district. and does not pay tuition. These schools are not Charter, online or private schools. The student does not reside with any parent or guardian with in the school district at any time of the year.

Under Pennsylvania law (24 PS §13-1302) a non resident child who is residing with a resident, who is supporting that child gratis (i.e. without personal compensation from the parents), may attend school within that resident’s school district, provided the resident either completes a sworn statement… My colleague is exactly right.
