Do all our fears come true?
Your worries and your reality are two very different things. When your spouse doesn’t answer the phone or when the elevator pauses for a second, it’s easy for your mind to go to the worst-case scenario (i.e. they’re dead and you’re stuck).

It is programmed into the nervous system and works like an instinct. From the time we’re infants, we are equipped with the survival instincts necessary to respond with fear when we sense danger or feel unsafe. Fear helps protect us. It makes us alert to danger and prepares us to deal with it.

Every single one of us has fear. Some of our fears are huge. Some of our fears are small. But all of our fears exist. Some people will encourage you to be fearless, but that’s actually really quite hard to do. Being fearless doesn’t have to be the goal. But acting alongside fear is a really important skill to be able to learn.
What are some examples of someone’s worst fears coming true?
The best example of someone’s worst fears coming true has to be what happened to Job (Job chapters 1-2). Let’s use him in his responses as a model. In a quick and brutal sweep of calamities, allowed by God, but engineered by Satan, Job is left penniless, homeless, helpless, and childless. On Day One Job lost his family and his possessions.
Why doesn’t God deliver us from everything we are afraid of?
