Can escapism be harmful?
Too much of escapism is bad when it turns into the habit of avoiding. We start avoiding reality, the challenges which lead to a better life. It affects professional growth (procrastinating work) and personal relationships (not solving problems by communication).

An escapist is someone who doesn’t live in the real world, but dreams, wishes, and fantasizes instead. If you’re an escapist, you might avoid thinking about unpleasant things by playing video games for hours. The goal for an escapist is to escape the difficulties of life and their own feelings through these diversions.

There are so many forms of escapism, anything in extremes suggests a possible issue. Addictions are a form of escapism whether it’s smoking, drugs, alcohol, gambling or love addiction. It’s an environment like this that escapism and running away from life can flourish de-facto because they give the individual full liberty to say: “that’s just my style, man. If I want to do these things, if I want to get wasted, if I want to be a degenerate, I should be able to do that ”.
