Summary: Stanford is really social, you won’t lack for opportunities to party here. The fact that Stanford is so isolated makes having a balanced social life hard. Unless you want to go to frat parties weekend after weekend, there is not a lot to do on weekends.
What kind of students go to Stanford?
Stanford students are driven and ambitious, but also highly engaged with the world around them and deeply concerned about making an impact. They are high-achievers but also some of the most driven to give back to the places they came from and the people that allowed them to find their success.
Do people actually make friends in college?
Coming into college, it’s normal to make friends with the first people you meet and click with. There’s nothing wrong with this (I’m still friends with some people I met at my college orientation). But I would encourage you not to feel like those people are the only ones you can ever be friends with.
What do Stanford students do in summer?
All students—residential or commuting students—may participate in activities. Weekends and evenings are packed with field trips, informal discussions with Stanford faculty, outreach projects, intramural sports, residence hall activities, and more!
How can I find new friends?
Once you reconnect with your circle of friends, the next step is to meet people you don’t know.
- Join meetup groups. Meetup.com is a great social networking site.
- Attend workshops/courses. These serve as central avenues that gather like-minded people.
- Volunteer.
- Go to parties.
- Visit bars and clubs.
- Online communities.
What is a flex term Stanford?
Prior to open enrollment or not enrolled in classes Students would not have to file a leave of absence in their first term away from Stanford; this quarter would be considered the student’s flex term. Students would declare this ‘flex term’ in the quarterly student check-in process in Axess.
How selective is the Stanford Summer Session?
Like SPCS, the courses will emphasize collaboration with the other students in the class. Also like SPCS, the program is selective, and all applicants must submit transcripts, work samples, and at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher of English, history, or social science.
