It’s the medium you work in. But, you don’t need to be able to build a computer from scratch by hand to be a programmer. You don’t need to be able to understand the inner workings of a computer. Or be that person all your friends come to with their computer problems.

Everyone codes differently. That’s why a piece of code might seem horrible to one person, but just fine to another. This is no problem when you’re working alone. But these days, a lot of software is built in collaboration.

Anyone can learn how to code, although don’t expect linear progress. Anyone can learn to code with persistence, the right teachers and optimal learning environment. While coding can be learned alone by sifting through dozens, if not hundreds, of tutorials, it will take significantly longer.

Some sources say that the average typing speed worldwide is 40 wpm (word per minute). And there’s this answer from Quora saying that the respectable typing speed for programmers should be 50 wpm. If you are a fast typist, probably you could capitalize on your typing skill.
Does having a coding standard make a difference?
Yes, having a coding standard makes a difference, but it isn’t a silver bullet. Code is more legible as there aren’t as many different style clashing and some common mistakes/pitfalls can be avoided. Even with a standard you’ll have some variation in coding styles, but that variability will be reduced.
What is the best IDE to learn programming languages?
For C, C++, and C# programmer, the choice is clear: Visual Studio. And for Python developers, Jupiter Notebook is getting better and better every day. For Java programmers, there are three major IDEs to choose: Eclipse, NetBeans, and IntelliJ IDEA. While Eclipse is my favorite, IntelliJ IDEA is probably the most powerful of them.
What programming language should a beginner learn?
As a programmer, you must know a programming language: C++ or Java, or maybe Python or JavaScript. You can choose whatever you want to but my personal suggestion is that you should at least know Java. It’s very easy to start with and that’s why a good choice for beginners. It’s also immensely powerful and allows you to virtually anything.
Which programming language is best for OOP coding and scripting?
Well, there are certainly some languages which are good for both OOP coding and scripting like Python, and that’s why I asked you to learn it at least. But if you happen to learn C/C++ or Java then you can’t whip out something as quickly as a Python or Perl developer can do.
